The Grenada Federation of Agricultural and Fisheries Organisation Inc. (GFAFO) serves as a national umbrella organization for farmers and fishers in Grenada. Established to unify and represent the interests of agricultural and fisheries stakeholders, GFAFO advocates for sustainable practices, policy reforms, and improved livelihoods for its members. GFAFO's initiatives focus on enhancing the resilience of the agricultural and fisheries sectors to climate change, promoting sustainable land and water management practices, and improving market access for small-scale producers. The organization collaborates with government agencies, international development partners, and local communities to implement programs that support food security, environmental conservation, and economic development. One notable project supported by GFAFO is the "La Sagesse Flood Project," which aims to rehabilitate key infrastructure to support sustainable agriculture and improve climate resilience. This initiative includes the rehabilitation of a local dam for flood control, construction of drainage systems, reinforcement of riverbanks to minimize erosion, and restoration of storage and pump house facilities. Through its advocacy and project implementation, GFAFO plays a crucial role in strengthening the agricultural and fisheries sectors in Grenada, contributing to the country's efforts in achieving sustainable development and climate resilience.
