About the Project:

One Regeneration and GWG started collaboration in February 2025 to reconstruct a small earthbag water cathcment structure (a small check dam) for the purpose of harvesting springwater and moving it across a 370 acre property. Primary construction was completed using earthbags and the structure now provides a steady supply of water.

In this second phase, we will encase the primary construction in a series of natural plasters to create a finished structure that is durable and beautiful. We intend to add final detailing, relief sculpting and natural paints - creating a form of functional landsacape art in the forest. The first plaster leyer will be a thick earthen plaster using clay harvested from the nearby river, sand, and coconut fiber. The second plaster layer will be a durable exteriior plaster made from sand and hydrated lime (limestone rock) along with natural additives.

The Location:

The Guango Wild Garden Conservancy (GWG) is located close to Peartree River, in St. Thomas. This land was part of the original estate of National Hero, George William Gordon. The site is off-grid. You can navigate to the location using this Google Maps Link. It will carry you directly to the site, It's approximately 90 minutes from Kingston.
