These green banana and breadfruit flour fritters have a lot of iron!


  • Breadfruit flour 2 cups 

  • 3 boiled green bananas

  • Cooked split peas 1/2 cup 

  • 1 green chili pepper (or scotch bonnet pepper)

  • Sea salt 1 tsp

  • 1 clove of garlic

  • Sunflower oil 1/2 tsp 

  • 2 stalks of green onion

  • Coconut milk/annatto sauce/water, 1-2 tbsp or as needed

  1. Combine banana and split peas into soft mash 

  2. Add the finely chopped garlic, pepper, onion, salt, oil. 

  3. Add the flour and stir. If mixture is dry, add measure of coconut milk, sauce or broth sparingly. Allow mixture to sit for 10 min. 

  4. Heat a lightly oiled pan on medium heat. Spoon approx 1 tbsp batter per fritter into pan and fry on each side until golden brown. 

  5. Serve with avocado slices or dip

Most foods we consume nowadays are empty, they only fill our stomach but don't provide any nutrients. These fritters are tasty, filling, and truly feed the body!
