PPCR Jamaica is part of the Pilot Program for Climate Resilience under the Climate Investment Funds (CIF). The programme, implemented by the Government of Jamaica in collaboration with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the World Bank, aims to enhance the country’s resilience to climate change by integrating adaptation measures into development planning and investing in innovative solutions across priority sectors.
Key projects include the Improving Climate Data and Information Management Project (ICDIMP), which strengthens Jamaica’s meteorological observation and data systems, supports development of climate-scenarios for priority sectors, and enhances public awareness and planning capacity; the Adaptation Programme and Financing Mechanism (AP&FM) which facilitates funding and implementation of adaptation measures; and the Promoting Community-Based Climate Resilience in the Fisheries Sector, which works with fishing communities to adopt climate-smart practices and diversify livelihoods.
PPCR Jamaica focuses on thematic areas including agriculture, landscape management, climate information systems, disaster risk management, fisheries, and urban water adaptation.
