Red Pea Sip with Breadfruit Flour Dumplings

These vegan version of a Caribbean favourite is so simple to make.


  • Soaked Red Peas

  • Coconut Cream (fresh or frozen)

  • Pumpkin

  • Green Banana

  • Scallion

  • Onion

  • Pak Choy

  • Spices

  • Breadfruit Flour

To make this vegan red pea soup, start with red peas that were soaked overnight. Let them cook in water then add coconut cream. We used a brand of frozen coconut cream but fresh is best! 

Next, we added pumpkin so it would mash out. Then green banana, scallion, onion, and spices followed. Next was the pak choy.

Last but not least was the breadfruit flour spinner dumplings. We made those with just the flour and water. Gradually add water and knead until and slightly sticky dough is formed. Break off small pieces and roll between your palms until long and skinny. Add them to the pot and that's it!

It made a delicious meal and we even added some cooked quinoa to the leftovers.
