The Cocoa Research Centre (CRC), established in 1930, is the oldest cocoa research institution globally and operates under The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus in Trinidad and Tobago. CRC is renowned for its extensive work in cocoa conservation, possessing the largest public collection of cocoa types worldwide. The centre's research encompasses various areas, including pathology, molecular diagnostics, food technology, and genomics. Additionally, CRC supports entrepreneurs through training programs, such as chocolate-making courses, and produces a 70% dark chocolate bar made exclusively from its diverse cocoa collection.
